Weedless SwimFrat

The SwimFrat is a 4.7 in TPE floating soft swimbait that runs heavy grass like a hollow-body frog and kicks like a swimbait. The hook sits in the bait, so pads, milfoil, and mats do not grab it the way an exposed treble would.

Cast it into the nastiness you usually skip. Let it sit, then swim it. If you hang up, keep tension and pull — TPE is built to take a beating and stay fishable. Pair it with a BKK 8/0 Titan Diver so the bait tracks and the hook stays buried.

Topwater rat

A SacPig topwater rat walks, wakes, and cranks down. You do not need a special cadence to start: light rod, braid to a 20–30 lb mono leader, and a parabolic stick. Straight braid catches hooks. Skip it on these baits.

On a straight retrieve you will feel a cadence in the reel hand. When that thump skips, a fish is on it or just missed. Do not cross-the-eyes set. Reel until the rod loads, then keep pressure. The hooks are sharp and thin — a hard hookset tears holes.

Walk it with a 1/6-crank twitch instead of a hard 1/4-crank. Raise the rod to burn the surface, hold mid to wake, tip down to crank subsurface. Shop Mischief Go.

Night rat tips

Low light is rat light. Bass pin a silhouette against the sky, so a waking rat after dark or at first light is a high-percentage move. Slow down. Let the bait work a lane. Keep reeling after a blow-up — a lot of fish come back.

Noise helps when they cannot see the bait well. Swap the tail for a Booty Shaker so the bait rattles without changing the walk. Same retrieve as daylight: walk, wake, or crank. Just give it more time on the spot.

Rig the SwimFrat

Every SwimFrat pack is three 4.7 in baits. Rigged Set and Pro Set come with TPE locks glued in. Swimbait Only includes the locks so you can rig them. The hook that matches is the BKK 8/0 Titan Diver — flash, 12 g, and 8 g weights in the 2-pack.

Seat the hook so the point stays in the bait. That is what makes it weedless. Pro Set already includes three Titan Divers. If you picked Rigged or Swimbait Only, use your existing hooks or add the hook pack.

Walk the rat

SacPig rats walk with very little rod. A 1/6-crank twitch is enough. You can also walk off the reel without popping the tip. The bait should glide left-right, not jump.

If fish short-strike the tail, swap to a Booty Shaker. Same walk, more noise, hooks still in the strike zone. When you want speed, raise the rod and burn a wake. Tip down and it cranks under.

Mischief Go is beginner-easy — two tails in the box, swiveling BKK hooks.
